Often, we recognize too late that stress and dissatisfaction have explainable reasons. With special techniques of self-reflection, we can uncover these causes and improve our situation. Here are some suggestions that can help you analyse your own life:
Childhood and Parental Roles
Consider reflecting on which roles and behaviours you learned from your parents. Did they support your dreams or have specific expectations for your life? Are your childhood dreams still relevant, or have they changed?
Educational Decisions
You might want to consider reflecting on whether you chose your educational path based on your own interests and passions or if you were influenced by others' expectations. Has your education helped you get closer to your dreams?
Self-Reflection and Authenticity
It could be helpful to schedule regular time for self-reflection. Consider whether you make decisions based on your own values or the expectations of others. Pay attention to moments of joy to clearly recognize what makes you happy. Have there been times when you clearly felt inner resistance to doing something? Did you still do it for some reason? How did it make you feel?
Setting Goals and Listening to Your Inner Voice
You might want to try setting goals that align with your dreams and creating a plan to achieve them. Even with an analytical mindset, it could be beneficial to trust your intuition. Could you try not only acting pragmatically or "as usual" but also listening to your inner voice?
Relationships and Authenticity
Consider reflecting on your relationships. Do they support your dreams or pressure you to conform? Is this something you can reconcile with yourself, or do you already feel dissatisfaction and tension that won't make you happy in the long run? What if you tried to handle your actions and decisions respectfully with others while remaining authentic, without pretending? Would that be accepted by the other person?
Personal Growth and Balance
Consider whether you're investing enough time in your personal growth, and whether you and your interests are as important to you as your societal obligations. Finding balance is important for increasing feelings of satisfaction and quality of life continuously. Why? Because you are worth it!
Professional Support
If you're having difficulty identifying or pursuing your dreams, you might consider seeking professional support from a coach, mentor, or therapist.
By engaging in self-reflection, evaluating your decisions, and regularly reviewing your actions, you could ensure whether you're living your own life and pursuing your dreams. This could enable you to make meaningful changes and improve your well-being while respecting your obligations to others.
